Baton Rouge Community College – total $13.8M
1.
Baton Rouge Community College Student Center – $6.1M
Project consisted of extensive demolition of existing
47,000 sq. ft. office building including all of the interior
walls and architectural features, mechanical, and electrical
systems, leaving only the structural components of the
building shell. The exterior elevations were rebuilt
using pre-cast concrete, masonry, and plaster to conform
to the architectural features of the existing campus.
This renovation required vision and planning to deal
with existing clearances and obstructions inherent in
the structural design of a 50-year-old building.
2. Baton Rouge Community College Health and
Wellness Center - $7.7M
38,900 sq. ft. building with 8 classrooms
and a 15,000 sq. ft. gymnasium/arena. Amenities include
a climbing wall, training room, weight room, office
space and dance studio. The arena is capable of seating
2,800 persons for assembly and is built to NCAA standards
for basketball/volleyball play. Bleachers in the gym
retract to facilitate play on four side courts. The
exterior features decorative brick with stucco accents.
A translucent panel system highlights the exterior
façade of the gym structure allowing natural light
to enter the space while still maintaining energy efficiency.
